Opening Recap: resonare as part of Between Memory, Place and Matter

Last week, we concluded our first Visiting Artist Program of the year with the public presentation of resonare, a collective outcome of the four-day residency hosted at Fonderia 20.9.
We are grateful to the participating artists — Sara Palmieri, Flaminia Celata, Bärbel Praun, and Claire Laude — for their commitment, generosity, and collaborative spirit.
Starting from the nearby disused Cavadini bell foundry, the artists explored sound as both material and method—reactivating its memory through photography, installation, video, and gesture.
The gallery became a space of echoes and translations, where each work responded to the foundry’s unique sonic heritage and the physical act of bell-ringing as a form of embodied trust.
resonare is part of the project Between Memory, Place and Matter by Sara Palmieri, developed in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Riga and supported by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. The program will culminate in a major exhibition at ISSP Gallery in Riga in 2025.
